Sweeper Parts Strathmore

Sweeper Parts Strathmore - The town of Strathmore is situated in southern Alberta along the Trans-Canada Highway. It is situated within Wheatlan County, around 40 kilometres or 25 miles east of Calgary.

In 1883, the town was established as a hamlet for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) lines that were being built. The name Strathmore comes from Claude Bowes-Lyon, the Earl of Strathmore, who was among the towns benefactors. A track laying record was made between Cheadle and the town of Strathmore when the railroad was built. Within one hour, one mile (1.6 km) of steel was laid and the rails were laid to Cheadle, 9 miles (14 km) for a record. Efforts by the Canadian government to develop western Canada caused increases in the population of the town of Strathmore and its significance as a rail supply stop.

The town of Strathmore at present is an essential agricultural community. What's more, the area has a growing gas and oil exploration and is the headquarters of the Golden Hills School Division. Many commute every day from Strathmore to Calgary. During the past three years the town has seen a main commercial development.

The Town of Strathmore has an approximate population of 12,139 residents, based on the latest 2010 municipal census. This represents an increase of 2.5% over the 2009 municipal census population of 11,838. At its current population, Strathmore is one of the biggest towns within the province and is qualified for city status. Based on the Municipal Government Act of Alberta, a town is qualified for city status when it reaches 10,000 inhabitants.

Ever since 1966, the town of Strathmore has conducted a yearly fair and "Heritage Days" Rodeo on the long weekend in August. The year 1985 saw the Heritage Days Rodeo turn professional and become sanctioned by the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association. In conjunction to hosting Pro Rodeo that weekend, 1988 saw the addition of the World Professional Chuckwagon Association Finals come to our grounds.

In the 1990's, there was a concerted effort to focus on a change of image to the weekend event. The event began to incorporate a more family theme, incorporating local entertainment stage, children's entertainment, craft/bench show, livestock show, machinery show, outdoor family entertainment show ring, parade, trade show, fireworks and midway. The hosting of these events annually every August long weekend created a main tourist attraction to the Town of Strathmore and nearby regions as indicated by its growing attendance.
